Diplomacy World was founded by Walter Buchanan in January of 1974. Long considered the flagship publication of the Diplomacy hobby, DW contains a variety of articles each issue, including hobby news, history, convention reports, strategy and tactics, variants, demo games, interviews, and much more. For much of its existence Diplomacy World was a printed publication, distributed by postal mail and available only by subscription. As the Diplomacy hobby has moved into the email age, DW has also progressed, and now new issues are available in Adobe pdf format for free.

The [http://www.diplomacyworld.net Diplomacy World web site] also has a large selection of scanned back issues. Just celebrating its 100th issue, Diplomacy World is released quarterly. The current editors of Diplomacy World are [[Douglas Kent]] and [[Jim Burgess]].
