Napoleonic Diplomacy is a variant created by Nathan Edwards & John Gilbert.

The game starts in 1790 before the French Revolution. There are 7 player powers (Britain, France, Spain, Prussia, Austria, Ottoman, Russia) as well as additional smaller powers controlled by the GM (these include, Portugal, The Papacy, Holy Roman Empire, etc).

In this variant the GM has a major role to play as he can create rebellions and even the emergence of new factions such as Poland, and the openning up of Norway and Switzerland.

Although the game does not appear balanced the GM factions keep it in check as they have a specific (although hidden) agenda.
