Imperial Builds refers to the ability to place new units in any free home center that a player controls. Including the players own home centers, as well as any opponents home centers that the player has captured. This differs with standard builds, in which a player can only build on his or her own home centers.
An Example:
If Imperial Builds are in use:
- England can build in Edinburgh or Kiel
- France can build in Liverpool
- Germany can build in Brest
Imperial Builds are typically used in:
- the Imperial variant (for which this method of builds is named)
- variants with larger maps
- cases where the GM announces at game-start that Imperial Builds will be utilized
